Lecture Assignment 8
Due at the start of class, Wednesday, October 5.
Please submit answers to these questions
either as a hard copy (typeset or handwritten are OK) or by email to
jteresco AT siena.edu by the start of class. Please use a clear subject line
when submitting by email (e.g., CS 180 Lecture
Assignment 8, Joe Student). We will discuss these
questions at the start of class, so no late submissions are
accepted.
- Log in to the class account on winterstorm.teresco.org using a secure
shell client. What does it print when you type the command below?
uname -a
You may use the class account on winterstorm.teresco.org to answer the
remaining questions.
- One of the junk email messages I received recently had header
information that showed the message came from IP address
113.165.23.107. Use a whois tool to find out to whom that
address is registered.
- Use a traceroute command to find the route from a lab
computer or your own computer to a web site hosted somewhere in
India. Paste in the output of the traceroute.
